Unlike standard glass, borosilicate glass is suitable for initial piercings thanks to its superior strength and resistance to thermal shock, chemicals, and scratches. It is torch-formed rather than poured into molds, creating a smooth, high-quality finish.

The staple-style design features approximately 6mm (0.24") legs with a 5.5mm (0.22") wearable length, making it easy to conceal while maintaining a comfortable fit. Available in clear or black and multiple gauge sizes to suit your piercing needs.

Glass Jewelry Care:

While borosilicate glass is exceptionally durable, all glass jewelry is breakable. We recommend removing your jewelry before swimming or showering whenever possible. Glass can become slippery when wet and may break if dropped onto hard surfaces such as concrete around pools or ceramic bathroom tile.

 

 

Materials

When compared to regular glass, borosilicate is safe for initial piercing, resistant to chemicals, scratch- resistant, less susceptible to fractures, resistant to thermal shock, and not poured into molds. All our glass jewelry is handcrafted in St. Louis, Missouri.

Care Instructions

MM Glassworks strictly uses borosilicate glass that is hand made in the USA. Borosilicate Glass is scratch resistant but still fragile and should be treated as such. All glass is guaranteed to arrive scratch and breakage free. We will package each order in a foam insulated box free of charge. Borosilicate glass is autoclavable. Do not use harsh chemicals on any jewelry. Do not wear in the shower or while swimming. Wash with antibacterial soap, but take caution while removing; glass will break if dropped on tile or cement.
